The Bristol Recreation Club Award

The Bristol Recreation Club is a non profit private organization created in 1921 which maintains space for the amusement, enjoyment, and recreation of the residents of Bristol, Vermont.

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who values outdoor community recreation, has demonstrated this value during his/her high school years, and is committed to continued future engagement in outdoor community recreation.

This is a one-time $500 scholarship to pursue further education at a university, college, technical program, or vocational training program.

Eligibility:

-Graduating senior at Mt Abraham Union High School;
-Demonstrated involvement in community recreation (including but not limited to activities such as: summer outdoor theater, coaching or refereeing youth sports, peer mentoring in an outdoor environment, Bristol Band participation, local hunting and fishing, hiking, etc.)

Application:

To be considered, submit an essay describing why you think it is important for citizens to engage in local outdoor community recreation activities.  Specifically:

-Explain how local recreation and community involvement has enhanced your life so far; and
-Explain how you plan to continue your community recreation involvement in the future.

Essays must be typed.  Please include your name, address, email and phone number on the top of the page, and please tell us where you intend to use this scholarship money to continue your education.

Selection & Award:

Award recipient will be chosen by the officers of the Bristol Recreation Club and the members of the Scholarship Committee. Award to be announced at the MAUHS Senior Award Night.  Check will be made out to and mailed directly to the recipient following successful completion of their first semester of higher education.  At that time, recipient must send the Bristol Recreation Club a copy of their first semester transcript and a schedule of their next semester’s classes as well as an address they would like the check mailed to.
